29 April 2012 SHAH ALAM - Despite the potential traffic jams and the lure of staying home comfortably over the weekend, a dedicated group of people braved the heat and distance to attend the PLF Showcase 2.0 - Rev Up Your Life! at the Raja Tun Uda Library in Section 13, here, over two days to listen to 12 talented speakers share their knowledge.

The two days were a buffet of knowledge where members of the public from all walks of life attended. Topics as diverse as personal development, email marketing, child development, gold investment and business management excited the senses of those who came.

For those of you coming tomorrow, here is the speaker schedule for your reference. Come and watch your favourite speakers share their expertise and bring friends and family along, too!

The showcase bunting coming soon!

This is the bunting we'll produce for the Rev Up Your Life! showcase. You'll be seeing this bunting every time there's a PLF Showcase, so keep your eyes out for it.

It was designed by Mohd Nadzrin Wahab and Tharwah Kassim and has a photo of the PLFs who attended the first showcase.

The different colours of the rainbow depict the various specialisations each PLF has and their ability to come together and share knowledge despite their differences. They share a similar belief, in that knowledge should be shared, and is everyone's right.

PLFs prove their worth in the new year

29 January 2012 SHAH ALAM - Almost 100 people spent two days listening to seven speakers deliver self-development topics from their expertise at the Raja Tun Uda Library here. Today was the close of the learning event known as the PLF Showcase - A New Year | A New You!. The event, co-organised by Take Charge Sdn Bhd, Pertubuhan Nisa' Malaysia and Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Selangor, was the first time such an activity took place.

Program director, Mohd Nadzrin Wahab, who was also one of the speakers, explained the concept of the event as a learning buffet, provided free to the public, who would otherwise have to pay a steep price to gain knowledge. The speakers were the Professional Learning Facilitators, a group of certified trainers who bring a unique twist to their training programs.

"The Professional Learning Facilitators, or PLFs for short, are members of a fraternity who have completed a intensive 3-day training program to become 'trainers', except, we focus on the learning, not the training," he said.

He admits, it is an alien concept for most to grasp, but he sums it up as caring more for engaging the learner and using any means necessary to ensure the message gets across, as compared to a rigid structure of teaching that a trainer must follow.

Each PLF instead follows and uses the Take Charge Learning Facilitation System which was founded by Mohd Rizal Hassan of Take Charge Sdn Bhd. To enable these PLFs to gain exposure and test their mettle in front of a real audience, the PLF Showcase was born.

Jointly developed between several PLFs, the concept of the event was to put on stage in front of a public audience, newly graduated PLFs. After their presentation, Rizal and the audience, would provide coaching and feedback on their performance and share points for improvement.

The event was deemed a success after several audience members inquired if there was going to be a repeat edition. Rizal replied that the showcase will continue as a quarterly event throughout the year. The next showcase is expected to be held in April 2012.
